Jane asked on her blog yesterday whether it was possible to be addicted to Nieblings.
As I've continued to use almost every spare moment this week to knit on this big blobby looking thing and as my pile of German lace magazines grows I'm going to have to answer - "My name is Soo and I'm a Nieblingaholic."
I'm still loving the Lyra pattern. The rounds are quite long now. The last time I counted was on round 126 and at that point there were around 900 stitches on the needle. It is challenging enough to keep my brain engaged and the time flies by when I'm knitting.
This reminds me -- I realised at some point this week that I had entirely miscalculated the number of stitches in Lyra. By my new reckoning it is over 105,000 for the round version, and a little more than that for the square one.

This photo shows one of the corners emerging.
It also occured to me that I haven't posted a picture of the finished Kaffe Fassett socks - so I'll tick that off my to do list and post one now.
I haven't matched the stripes as the recipient of these socks has declared that matching ones are lame. This view will ensure she has hand knit socks for the rest of her life.
It's a great yarn and I have ordered some of the other stripy colourways.

Wow! I knew that Lyra is big but that number of stitches........
I still hope that Burda will reprint some of the Nieblings pattern! I do want to have a Lyra!
Good luck will all your knitting! I see some very nice shawls.
We are all getting addicted to Nieblings. It's a sad state of affairs...but your Lyra is turning into a stunning tablecloth/shawl/afghan! What pattern will you do next.
I guess I should have stocked up on some of those, before I left Germany. Never knew of Niebling until I saw your blog. You are doing so great.
I totally agree with the recipient of your lovely socks - matching socks are dead booorrrring. Haven't tried the Kaffe Fassett yet, though I do like Regia yarn in general because it's just so darn tough.
Lyra is looking very impressive! Must do more homework on Herr Niebling...
900 Stitches *gasp*
You know Niebling sounds like some cute little creature from outer space (or is my imagination just overactive?).
Those socks are gorgeous, mismatched stripes are so much cooler than matched ;)
And, well Lyra looks like a beast! But an exceedingly beautiful one! (if you know what I mean)
I have been stalking your blog for a bit now... and let me say you are a GIANT inspiration! a gabillion lace sts... go you! I also love love the socks. I will have to track down some of that yarn. by the way i do agree matching stripes are soo lame!
Your Lyra is really stunning. Talk about commitment! I wish I could just knit to the exclusion my other knitting but I'm just not made that way. There are lots of Niebling addicts that preceed us so we are in good company at least. I love watching every one knit the Nieblings. I think it's fantastic!
The shawl is amazing, beautiful corners. I must look up Nieblings to find out about the patterns!
Lyra is looking very nice indeedy! stunning infact, and the socks are nice, its great to see some knit up, gives a better idea of if I would buy some ;)
I'm so impressed with your progress on Lyra! And, I'm totally loving those corners! B-U-Ti-FULL!
Lyra is *such* a lovely pattern! I must get back to mine one of these days when I can concentrate again. :)
Thanks for the tip Soo, it's the kind of thing I need to hear.. well read. Instead of being told I'm being impulsive and being discouraged.
I'm glad you like the new layout - I def' think it's much easier to read too.

Your shawl is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!! Ok...what is nieblings or do i want to know? LOL
They say admitting you have a problem is half the battle! And I expect there are far worse problems to have than being a Niebling addict - one look at that gorgeous creation and it's clear why you love it!
Hehe thanks Soo!
I'm going to dig out my first cable pattern tonight, it's a cabled hat by Wendy. I should really finish my stole first but.. you know how it is! ;)
