Note to Self

Dear Self.

For future reference: when you've spent the evening sampling mojitos and putting the world right with your best friend do NOT (I can't be too emphatic on the NOT) (so I'll repeat it) do NOT decide the right way to unwind before bed is a 'quick row' on the Spring Shawl.

Next time, surf the net. Write a babbling email. Put random numbers into a sudoku puzzle. Stare vacantly at a magazine. Anything really.

Just DON'T knit.

I have just picked up the Spring Shawl and it's not clear from the rather random scattering of YO's, k2tog, SSK's what row from the pattern you thought you were doing.

The first 5 stitches match the pattern (and perhaps I should be grateful for that small miracle) but after that you seem to have gone off in some sort of jazz inspired knitting improvisation.

Drinking and knitting. It's not clever.

(But the mojitos were lovely!)

Ahhh-ha (lol). Been there. Reserve a plain sock just for this purpose.

Oh dear! I hate when that happens. I don't drink at all, but being tired has the same effect.

figured out my edging, so I will be starting that tomorrow.

I'm sorry, I couldn't read past that first paragraph. I messed up easy lace when I was sleepy, but I can't imagine what it looks like when you try to do complicated lace after some mojitos.

Sorry, my nerves just couldn't take the entire post. I hope whatever you did is fixable.

Yeah, plain socks that you can knit without looking would have been a better choice. I just hope you didn't drop any stitches?

Drinking and knitting are always a horrible mix- I slaughtered a simple stole that way! Oh, well. It's fixable, right?

I can't drink and knit either. However I can drink and spin, and I can have several pints and still drumcard successfully!

Try Googling Pomegranate Mojitos! Yum. They are worth missing a night of knitting progress. (By the way, I am speaking from experience.)

My sympathy. The only thing that is worse is when the drink spills on the lace!

Can't get over the beautiful work you've done. Your patience and experience shows in every piece. Love shines in every stitch. Lucky are those who receive them.
