Aren't you glad you stopped by?
Instead of the interesting projects, I'll post some pictures of recently completed socks. Hurrah!
These are the Embossed Leaves socks that I started when I went to Qatar earlier this month. I ripped them back and they are no longer too big for human feet and I'm very fond of the finished product. The pattern is from Favourite Socks and is definitely on my favourite sock pattern list. The leaf pattern is pretty easy to memorise, but interesting enough to keep you zipping around.
This is my first pair of Socks that Rock socks, and I am ready to take out a mortgage to stock up on more. The yarn really is lovely and squishy and the colour is great.
After successfully completing a pair of identical socks from self striping yarn, I've gone back to my lax ways and whipped up these fraternal socks using Kaffe Fasset regia sock yarn.(Miraculously, I actually know that this is 'Landscape Storm' colourway. Go me!)
And because I had 5 pairs of socks finished but not yet distributed I decided to take a socks on parade photo because I could and I'm sad that way.
On a less productive note, I have decided that the Faux Russian Stole I started last month is never going to be. You may recall that I started it using some lovely (but crazy crocking) Claudia's silk. And I can't really say why - but the project never really took off. I did about 60 rows, but each with little or no enthusiasm, and since then I can't seem to convince myself to pick it up again.So today I pulled it off the needles and ripped it all out.
I still like the pattern, and I love the silk - so I expect both will reappear (separately) at some point.(And for those of you whose hearts have stopped at the photo of the unravelled yarn in a heap. Fear not. All was lovingly rewound. No laceweight was hurt in the making of this blog.)

What's the pattern on the red socks? And I am so making a sock parade in the near future - mine will only have 3 pairs though, and as such, will be much sadder than yours (lol).
Those socks are spectacular, especially the red ones.
I am so sorry about your faux Russian stole. But I have projects like that--just no enthusiasm. Are you going to try and fix the yarn or just trash it?
Sometimes yarn just doesn't want to be a particular project. :-( I'm sure you'll find something else that suits the yarn better. :-)
"Stealth projects". Love that term. Now I'm so curious. But the socks are fun!
As for the Claudia's - I haven't started using mine yet... I do hope that you find another "home" for it... :)
Beautiful socks. I know that feeling you had with the stole. I had the same feeling with the Forest Path Stole. Some projects just aren't meant to be.
The embossed leaves socks in the green are great. I love solid socks but I do have some Kaffe landscape too which I am hopefully going to get roud to using soon1

I love the way the Kaffe Fasset regia knits up and I like your other self-patterning ones too. There's a lot to be said for the simple ones.
There's no point in forcing yourself to carry on when it doesn't seem to be working. You're knitting because you like to knit and Im sure you'll find another yarn for the pattern and vv
Sock parades have to be done!!! and it doesn't half make you feel good when you see all those socks in a line and at the end of the day they're still a skill and a fair bit of knitting time ;o)
Life is too short for knitting things in spare time that you don't enjoy so I can quite understand frogging the faux Russian stole I did that with the Melon stole from VLT.....

Wow, you've been productive! I was just thinking of placing a STR order, and here you are, singing its praises... I don't think I'll be able to restrain myself. Hey, how'd my credit card get into my hand???
Anyhow, I'm sorry the Faux stole didn't work for you. It's very pretty, but sometimes, things don't work out as intended. I'm still not sure about my Baltic Sea Stole. It's at the bottom of my WIP basket and I'll pick it up again when I get down there (3 other projects are in the way). Then, it'll be knit or rip.
Oooh look at all those socks, what a shame you're not in the 2008 sockalong, you'd boost us by about double what we've all done between us!! :p
Every yard should have a clothesline full of handknitted socks. Your socks are great!
wow, shame about the shawl - are you going to start it again in something else? It's on my to do list as well.

Actually, it is a great comfort to me! I do believe that matching yarn to pattern is the most difficult part of knitting. I've seen, for example, Pomatomus socks that were blah, and Pomatomus socks that were spectacular. Same pattern, different yarn. Makes a big, important difference.

Amazing socks... but I can't quite meld the two - socks and lace? Hmm, just not me. But then, hey, you're not me!
Am intrigued to know what the blinking heck are the 'stealth projects'? I'm waiting with bated breath...!
